The biggest off season days come up April 26-27.

The NFL draft.

Who do you like as the #1 pick?

Should Miami trade that?

Who do you like for your team to pick?

I'm looking for my Raiders to draft Mcfadden, and with Rhodes,Jordan and Fargus to run the ball down the throats of the AFC West next season.

For those of you who are not familiar with American football please do not bash or troll, if you have not played it, you cannot relate, thanks.

I love the NFL..

Go Bears.. :D

I'm not sure about how the Draft actually works though Huggy if i'm honest but i do follow the Season religeously on ESPN..

One thing i do know, i think, is that Miami need a miracle to have a good Season, not just the first draft pick. :o

Huggy, Toad is correct...despite containing the word "football" in it, this thread is for the Brits who go ga-ga over that game that we call "soccer".

Now to your post: The Raiders couldn't run the ball down the throats of their cheerleaders. First of all, you need an offensive line to create some holes. The only holes these clowns can create is in their undies when they get knocked on their asses.

I'm sure Miami would love to trade out of that Number 1 slot...but the folks at ESPN say they have no takers. I look for them to take Jake Long, the offensive tackle out of Michigan. But if they don't take Long at #1, then he could fall all the way to the Raiders and they should snap him up. McFadden might be the best athlete in the draft, but the Raiders truly need offensive linemen to give JaMarkus Russell a chance for survival in his first year as a starter. Besides, Rhodes, Jordan and Fargus are a pretty decent trio of running backs.

Or the Raiders could trade out of the slot with Dallas and get two #1's and fill some of the other holes they have.

The last few drafts have been pretty predictable...not a lot of draft day moves. Maybe this year will be a little different.

I threw that last line in because I am aware this is the European football thread, but we do post American football threads here too, and what I was trying to avoid is the trolling, bashing, that comes from people who are not into the game. Trying to weed that out.

The Raiders do have a good offensive line including #1 bust Gallery, they just need to play better together, and they will.

As long as Manchester United keeps Cristiano Ronaldo, I don't care. :o

Seriously, the Raiders showed a little life at the end of the season. With the retirement of Warren Sapp, Al Davis would be wise to pick one of the great defensive linemen or defensive ends in the first round: Glenn Dorsey (LSU), Sedrick Ellis (USC), Vernon Gholston (Ohio St.), or Chris Long (Virginia), if he's still available. But, Al Davis is not wise, and prefers flash, so you're probably right about McFadden. I sure would like to see Oakland end up with WR DeSean Jackson (keep that Cal boy at home), but that might require a trade.

I agree that Miami probably can't trade that #1 pick, because there's not a stand-out #1 pick in this draft. They would do better with a lower round 1 draft and some round 2's and 3's so they can patch up their beleaguered defense. They'll probably grab Dorsey or Jake Long.

Moving to the big jessies in armour forum. :o:D:D

merely referring to the equipment as "armour" shows how little you know about the game.

Please do move on.

The Raiders had the 6th ranked rushing offense in the league last year http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?s...07&season=2

It looks like Miaami is negotiating $$ with Jake Long this week.

I don't know who the Raiders will take. They were very busy in free agency getting WR S CB DE and OL. Anything will help.

I think it's a cool irony that your avatar is the father of your teams leading running back, Justin Fargas. :o

Miami signs OT Jake Long, making him the number 1 pick Saturday. Much news about trades and positioning for the next few picks. It's wide open!!!

Seattle released Shaun Alexander too. The 2005 MVP. Life is short in the NFL

It is wide open.

Seattle signed a couple of younger backs (smart move) as Alexander no longer can make it through a full season. I think Julius Jones is a GREAT pickup for them.

I see a lot of D-linemen going early as that is a very safe pick. Big, solid, fast, get the quarterback kind of guys are hard to miss with. I'm surprised Howie Long's kid so so highly rated, and the irony here, he might go to the HATED Chiefs !!!

Home run ball for my Raiders:McFadden

Jerry Jones (Cowboys) is losing it. He wanted McFadden bad, but couldn't figure out how to get him. Instead, he settled on Felix Jones, McFadden's back up at Arkansas. In doing so, the Cowboys passed on Mendenhall. a franchise running back who the Steelers jumped all over with the next pick. Hence, Jerry Jones passed on a franchise running back to get a back up position player.

Yeah, I dunno.

Remember, Tom Brady was a backup at Michigan............

The Cowboys, loaded with talent, just needed an off-speed guy to compliment the hammer (Barber). Jones being an Arkansas alum, I'm sure saw a ton of tape on this guy. I haven't seen Felix Jones play, so cannot comment one way or another.

I'll agree with you though that Mendenhall is one hel_l of a pickup for the Steelers, I have seen him play and he could end up being a monster.

Overall, I think the draft went as anticipated. Not a lot of surprises. Defense and offensive linemen, safe picks.

I have seen films on Felix Jones, but everytime I get excited, I remember I need to temper my enthusiasm as both F. Jones and McFadden were juniors and McFadden was the starter. Hence, Felix's plays were made after McFadden had shredded the defense. The Cowboys are high on F. Jones because he can also return kicks, a position they have had difficulty with. Still, draft Mendenhall and then trade him to another team for a reasonable WR (the need they couldn't address) and a back up position player. Now, Felix Jones will have to be a remarkable running back to make up for not drafting Mendenhall.

This all reminds me of when, two year's ago, the Cowboys drafted Anthony Fausano (ND) a TE with a high 2nd round pick. They had just extended Jason Witten's contract before the draft and I couldn't believe this pick. My worst thoughts were realized last week when the Cowboys traded Fausano and a starting LB to the Tuna (Fins) for a 4th round draft pick, next year.

I long for the days when Tex Schramm would draft the best athletes available, and end up with SB teams.

They are a Super Bowl team, for sure.

Jessica's boyfriend doesn't bobble that game winning field goal, who knows how far they would've gone.....

Had the offense not gone cold as ice this year (granted the Giants defense seemed to bother a lot of teams) against the Giants they might have tatooed the Patsies.

All good experience, for this upcoming season.
