I am looking at a Triumph at the moment in the UK. But I have plans to relocate to Thailand in the future. As a keen biker I have been following the threads on importing Harleys and choppers etc. It is apparent that getting your chosen bike into Thailand is real barrier. However what is the situation with Triumph. my understanding is that they are now manufacturing in Thailand and shipping to the UK. So could I buy a Rocket in thailand without the import tax. If Triumph can do it, you never know in the next 10 years all harleys could be produced in some industrial province outside Bangkok. :o

Hi yorkieb

Not sure weather you know this but there are a few Triumph dealers here in LOS now (BKK and CM). There are also a few Rocket 3's. I would suggest that they all were sourced here and paid the (in)appropriate Thai tax's. I think if you search on here you might find reference to members Rocket 3's

I had a few Triumphs in the UK and dearly miss them now. Very rare over here but that makes it more worthwhile, I think.

Good luck (Chock Dee)

Dave

p.s. many Hardley engine parts are already produced in China BTW

I started out with Triumphs. Back then, it meant Lucas electrics, Amal carbs, vertically split crankcases that leaked oil profusely, and long-stroked, air-cooled old engines with two valves per cylinder and no overhead cams. Now Triumph builds bikes so modern they hardly seem British, except for the classic Bonneville twin series.

Got one for sale at a saving of 200,000 bah plust and no waiting for dlivery The ultimate touring bike for Thailand. I would love to keep her but now no longer have the free time and am Samui based now and dont get to hit the mainland enough. She will be sorely missed. :o
