Northeast hard hit by tropical storms

Governor of Amnat Charoen province Parinya Banthong (ปริญญา ปานทอง) revealed after inspecting damage to residential homes that his province has been hit by 8 tropical storms since the beginning of the summer period.

Mr. Parinya said that more than 262 homes sustained damages and he has had to ask the military to assist in repairing and rebuilding them as well as building temporary shelters for storm victims. Red Cross workers in the province have distributed aid kits as further assistance.

The governor said that the province has released 21 million baht in aid funding, granting each household 30,000 baht for reparations. Authorities have asked that residents closely follow meteorological reports to stay abreast of the situation.
