April 28, 200817 yr I notice that the Zen restaurants in the MBK centre have closed. Are there any others in Bangkok? Thanks
April 29, 200817 yr Also in Central World... near Isetan. They do serve rather lousy Japanese food though... (Zen, Fuji, Oishi, etc).
April 29, 200817 yr After 15 years in Thailand with much worse and much more expensive Japanese food, Zen, Fugi, etc. are great as far as I'm concerned. In fact, I don't think that they are terrible compared to some of what I have eaten in Japan. I'm most happy that they are around!
April 29, 200817 yr I still think Fuji is the best Japanese food for the price. I know it's assembly-line style food, but still tasty.
April 29, 200817 yr I still think Fuji is the best Japanese food for the price. I was thinking quite the opposite, especially Oishi.
May 4, 200817 yr There is a Zen restaurant on 4th floor of Siam Centre which is at BTS Siam and in between Discovery and Paragon. There is also a Coca Japanese restaurant on same 4th floor, and I think their shabu shabu buffet selection is not bad, fresh but basic. Far better than Shabishi the other shabu shabu buffet chain.
May 5, 200817 yr Zen - pretty good food, very poor service and non-existent management (particularly the one in Fashion Island) Fuji - again the food's good though the service is ridiculously over-attentive and annoying. Also, expect a queue Hobson's choice really.
May 5, 200817 yr I prefer Samurai or Kobune. The chef at Zen MBK was pretty good but other branches were pretty average. I just hate Fuji because they're ridiculously slow and the waitresses are always DUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
May 5, 200817 yr Central Rama III - Zen beats Fuji every time imho - EXCEPT FOR the gyozas which are strangely horrible! Never figured out why ... Prices are a bit higher at Zen though, which usually means you don't have to Q to get in CC
