Hi

Is there any Mini Cab service in Phuket that i can use and call, to say pick up from my apartment, that also charges the going rate?

I note there are now metre taxi's at the airport, does anyone know if they are only for the airport, or can they collect from your apartment/hotel ( as in Bangkok ) , also do they actually use there metre?

Thanks

I think that is a big "no-no" amongst the tuk-tuk driver and motorcycle taxi mafia. A metered taxi residential pickup might mean a bullet for the driver.

Private cars can be hired at tuk-tuk stands where you see a few cars (Nai Hairn Beach for instance) and from tour operators. If you find a driver you like get his cel# for future pickups.

Whenever I get a metre taxi from the airport I ask for the driver's card or phone number. Then when I need a taxi I phone him and if he isn't available he will know some one who is.
