A friend is suffering from "Seasonal Fever" in India.

He is vomitting anything consumed including water.

He has been given the Anti - Emetic DOMTAL

and was told to take the Tabs AFTER eating.

This doesn't sound right to me - I would expect to

take the DOMTAL say 30mins BEFORE trying to eat.

Has anyone knowledge or experience please?

A close relative has a similar problem - but the real issue is that people who have vomiting problems - can't keep anything down: including the medicine. So the medicine does them no good.

My relative goes to hospital and gets a shot that stops the nausea – it’s the only thing that has worked.

This can be a very serious health problem. Have them get to the Dr. asap.

All that said, it is not uncommon to get incorrect or inaccurate advice from a physician. It is always wise to do a 'net search to find what the manufacturer says to do. I recently found I was taking the wrong dosage of a drug (for several months now!) - probably because the doctor was used to prescribing it for Thais who weigh a lot less than I do. The dosage was supposed to be in proportion to weight!

I had a small bout of food poisioning a wee while ago. Both ends were going at a furious rate and I felt as crook as 10 dogs. Went to the local Doc who promply gave me two shots. One anti-nausea and one to stop me vomiting. Then he gave me a weeks supply of pills for back up. I started to feel better within an hour or so and was right as rain next day.

As most doctors will tell you, that unless you are really ill(dehydrated etc), it is important to let nature take its course to get rid of the bug, rather than using the drugs that turn your intestines into cement. :o
