Tourist Police arrest Norwegian Tourist with expired visa and outstanding bar, hotel and restaurant bills.

In the early hours of Tuesday Morning, Tourist Police Detectives arrested Mr. Geirove Hansen aged 51 from Norway following a number of complaints from a Hotel, Beer Bar and Restaurant. Bills totaling 20,655 Baht were presented to the Tourist Police.

Complaints were made by the Inn House located in Soi 13, the Boomerang 2 Bar in Soi Yamato and Pier 69 Restaurant in Jomtien.

According to the complainants, Mr. Hansen informed each venue that he had no money and was waiting for someone in Norway to send money to him. Eventually the establishments decided to make a complaint to the Tourist Police who further discovered Mr. Hansen’s Visa in his Passport had expired.

Mr. Hansen will now be processed in accordance with Thai Law with the assistance of the Norwegian Embassy.

Very strange indeed...this extending of credit (especially for BB and resto). I am sure an exorbitant interest rate will be tacked on.

No worrys, however, as Norway's sovereign provident oil fund at over $ 100B or so, they can certainly afford to spring one of their nationals from the monkey house for a measly $ 500 :o
