And here I was thinking the thread was about the real estate villa market :o

To make a villa market work in Phuket, you need the concentration of farangs with money that surround soi 11 in Bkk. I think there are more customers to draw upon in the Ambassador and Grand President buildings next door to Villa then there are in the entire Patong area.

No argument that Villa has a fresh produce section that usually puts Carrefour to shame, but I can find most of the items available in a Villa at Carrefour and usually for a lower price. True there are alot of the American items I drool for, but really if I have a Doritos craving I break open the emergency stash, which means I eat less of the deep fried, over salted artery clogging processed corn meal. Do I need the wide variety of jello? Not really as I still have my teeth and my bowels are fine. The point being that the items Villa offers that I can't get at Carrefour are not critical items and the store would be a money loser for its operators.

apparently there are plans for a Villa Market in Phuket

however as most said, the prices are sky high and the market here is smaller with lots of expats living here who don't want to spend too much

Bangkok is a different turf

Hi

Your right we don’t need it, but it is VERY nice to could buy what you want, i did find stuff i have not seen since i was back in Europe years ago, it just tasted so good that i might go back to Europe for a holiday this year, and you can’t get it in Phuket, found many things you can’t get in Phuket.

yes lets have both Villa Market and Foodland, at least we can choose, and maybe prices would go down (just a wish)

Villa Market in BKK, Sukhumvit, between soi 33 - 35 is my local when in Bangers.

The Emporium just along on the right is a handy backup.

Emporium grocery and deli etc, is too awkward, a hassle to get to, but often use the food place.
