Visa Run Laos

Featured Replies

Just did a visa run to Laos from Bangkok by car and here are my observations

Left Bkk no problems till after Korat then Police Checkpoints everywere you guessed it see white face stop and fine.

Arrived Nong Khai 8hrs later recommend Pantawee Hotel 800Baht inc Breakfast even computer in your room with free internet.

Try the steaks 180 Baht very good value.

Drove to bridge 7am left car at car park and did the formalities got to other side no problems total time 20mins.

Hired Taxi / minibus to take me to hotel then embassy wait and return hotel 600Baht

Spent 1hr in boiling sun to put my passport and visa application in then you have to go to an other office to pay.

Recommend Riverside Hotel 800Baht nice clean in good location

Avoid the restaurant opposite run by Dutchman steaks like leather and omelette's not much better.

Next day back to embassy at 2.30pm no wait straight in and out.

Arrive bridge Laos side no problems clear in 10mins arrive Thai side its like a football match had to wait 1.30hr in sun behind some dodgey Russian who had some problems with passports then back to hotel.

Next Day run the gauntlet of police again and arrive Bkk at 2pm

Total Cost 12,000 Baht still cheaper than air flights etc
