How can I say in Thai if I want to find the washroom? :o

My boyfriend used to say what he learnt from a Thai book ' Hawng nam supab burud yoo nai krap' It used to make me laugh because 'supab burud ' means gentleman which is a very formal word in Thai and I can visualise him standing in a village asking to use a hole in the ground with the most formal word :o

Wouldn't tee-nai be more appropriate (rather than u-nai)?

I always thought u-nai applies to people and tee-nai applies to places.

or

hawng nam u taang nai krap

which way is the toilet

ChaTu must have pissed himself/herself by now.
