Much-revered monk in Chiang Mai dies

CHIANG MAI: -- Phra Phuttapoj Waraporn or Luangpu Chan of Chiang Mai died at the Chiang Mai Provincial Hospital Friday. He was 91 years old.

He used to be chief of northern monastic officers and was abbot of Wat Chedi Luang Worawiharn.

The monk died at natural causes at 6:33 pm, doctors said.
