I just got it as a mail adv two weeks ago from a credit card company. I thought I could hit it last night but I was not in the right mood for it .

as they had stated it ;tickets are 1k,2k,3k and 4k; there is a discount of 10% for certain CC holders.

Mrs H2o insisted we go to see the show when we were last in London. Wasnt really looking forward to going as Ive never been into theatre. Fully expected it to just be about Queen. WOW was blown away !! Nothing to do with the story of Queen and Ben Elton has written a classic. If its the same cast as then its a must and would certaily try to go again. Funny, good music and well performed. It certainly changed my thinking on theatre :D:o

I'm usually a fan of musicals but this doesn't appeal to me too much. I'd be interested to hear how it is though.

I'm going on Tuesday night - had to change dates from saturday so had to upgrade to the 6000 baht seats. Will let u know how it goes.

I am sorry; I didn't go to attend that rock show last night; :D my sons were not interested in it; they are more into hiphop and Latino songs; we had voted and they "won" :o so instead of that rock show we went to watch Hancock movie;

but am planning to go to this week( either alone or with friends) since my lovely parole officers are strongly against going out with me to see this show. :D I can't miss rock-Queen songs; I do love em :D

ROCK surely rox :D

I went to see this in Hong Kong last month (same production from South Africa) and I would definitely recommend it.

Go - you won't regret it!

I went last night. I am not a great musical fan and thought it was OK but not brilliant. Got disturbed by a group of farang celebs in front of me and told them to shut up as I wanted to listen to the show not them. They shut up momentarily. They were drinking champagne from a bottle but drinks are not allowed into the auditorium.

The problem with the show is that it is a bit more 'wordy' than I wanted - the Queen songs were not full length - just like a medley with words between. Not much of a story. The deco was fine and acting (27 actors plus bad) Ok. Just that I wanted more Queen in it.

We were in the 4000 baht seats as were most of the other people all crowded together and moved because of the tossers to the cheap empty seats further back - much better and the view was fine - so the cheaper seats downstairs are recommended - not the ones where most people congregate in the 4000 baht area. The price then would be worth it.

BTW, it was only about half full.

They played in Tokyo a couple of years back or so. I did not attend the show, but some of the cast came to the cheapie karaoke bar I frequent. They drank, sang songs and were very friendly people.

Oh, and the make-up artist was a cutie!

Farang celebs? You mean farang who are celebrities only in Thailand? Or foreigners who are celebrities in their own countries and happened to be visiting Thailand?

My Thai friends who knows these things said it was Miss Canada and cohorts, fresh from Miss Universe competition in Vietnam. No wonder she shut up when I told her to, a sudden change from being asked to "open wide".

Just a small correction to be fair - the problem was less from Miss Canada then from her girlfriends.

I feel a bit disappointed for knowing it's more like a wordy show than a Queen-musical one :o . I guess I would go for the cheaper tickets since you had mention it's worthy of it, I am just waiting for my friend to arrive in Thailand next week.

I saw it last night, with my wife and another couple. We all thought it was great, and judging from the appreciative discussions that I heard around me as we filed out so did everyone else, Thai and Farang alike.

To be clear this is not a show directly about Queen, its an attempt to create a story that has been inspired by Queen songs, that also happen to feature in the performance as a medley, some were full length others barely a line. To the poster who wanted more Queen, how do you suppose could they have woven more Queen songs into the story? There were 10 maybe 12 songs in it, which was fine by me.

Just don't go there expecting Les Miserables, or Cats. It was written by Ben Elton and Brian May. It was a 'popcorn' musical, meaning that it was very accessible and very entertaining. Good music, good sets, dancing and even a few gags (which is to be expected given the writer). There was lots of interactivity, clapping and singing by the crowd etc. In short it was a really fun night out.

I was also in the 4000 baht seats and did not have any obnoxious people near us. It was also only about half full, but honestly the only disappointment we had, was that we had the understudy for the lead role, (we were looking forward to seeing Mig from Rockstar INXS) but even so, the understudy and in fact all the cast had great voices and performed brilliantly.

Saw that one in Sydney a few years back - FANTASTIC. I'd even pay to see it the 2nd time.

First western show TW went to.

Well a lot of people do think that at 1st but they end up enjoying the show in the end. So ive been told, but my friend who is a cellist beg me to see her performance and all I was thinking is no way how boring. But I ended up going and enjoyed it. There’s a lot going on up on the state that can capture the mind.

I lived near Lincoln Center for a while, and had several friends in NYC Ballet and other ballet companies, and I have to say that they're some very cool people (and smoking HOT). If I were you I'd go just to try and hang out with them after the show. :o (Yes, most of the guys are gay, but not all)

The performance and company will usually determine how much you'll enjoy the show. The best performances will have amazing music as well, so if you're into orchestral music I'd give it a shot. Ideally, if you get a chance, you'd want to see one of the more well known productions of A Midsummer's Night Dream or Nutcracker.

Wow... Reading this post reminds me of 1978 when I saw Queen perform in the Cleveland Coliseum... It was 'The Race' tour where they played 'Fat Bottom Girls'....but the best of the concert was when they played various songs from the 'Night of the Opera' LP..... it gives me flashbacks just writing about it.... :o

so what?

Suppose I didn't warn her, and she ended up hooking up with a gay guy. Thant would suck.

i sucked it up and went to see this play alone tonight- had a great time! it wasn't the best production i have ever seen, if you took queen's music away there wasn't much to the plot... but there were a few good characters and i happen to love queen so i was quite entertained. the main guy who played galileo figaro was replaced by the understudy tonight, and he had the most annoying, whiny voice!!! found it hard to get over at first but by the end i liked him better. the thai references were kind of silly. the 'killer queen' was great as was victoria beckham and *his* girl. i am glad i didn't splurge for the 4000b seat as the 3000b one was perfectly fine. overall, i would recommend seeing it. :o better than most options in bangkok.

p.s. next is the ballet :D surface, you want to join?
