Dog Obedience Classes

Featured Replies

my dog is driving me crazy, not listening once we are outside, misbehaving, chasing buffalo, motorbikes and anything else. does anyone have any recent information on the dog school in koh sirey, is it still open, prices, etc. or any other info on dog behaviour classes ? please..... :o

School should still be open.  I thought they were fine, but another member here thinks that the school makes the dogs too aggresive and prone to fighting due to the school having so many pitbulls out there.

BTW in the plants and pets forum, there is a nice thread about dog obedience and teaching your dog.

The "other member" was me, I remember that we've talked about dogs and training(nice to meet and talk to you!).

I had a bad experience with them and took Max back after 1 week.

Have met some more people here in Phuket which gave their dog to them for training, most of them did not like it.

Yes it was you Gerd ( didn't know if you wanted to be specifically mentioned :o)and nice to have met another fellow dog lover.  I can attest that when you do show up at the dog school, all the dogs go agro with profuse barking. That action can't have a calming effect on visiting dogs.

Just had today an email and phonecall from a nice bloke I've met last year at a dog show here in Phuket.

He's from Hongkong and wants to open a dog school here in Phuket.

He is back in Bangkok and will come down to Phuket to negotiate about the land he needs to rent for this school.

When I met him I was deeply impressed what he could do with a dog after only 20 minutes, a real dog lover!

Looking forward he starts his school here in Phuket.

Will post again when I have more details.

There was a Golden Retriever down the end of our soi that was a graduate of the Phuket Dog School – the most unruly Golden I have ever known. We would often see it bounding along the street, lead trailing behind, it, owner running after it shouting “come back, come back!” in Thai.

I am not convinced that being separated from their owners, caged up all night and just responding to the trainers is a good idea. In the UK, they have obedience classes that both owners and dogs attend. It would be great if they had that sort of thing here.

Meanwhile, I found some of these articles very useful in training our stubborn hound:
