Hi

We are Australian and have been told by immigration office and others that children under 7 will not be fined if they overstay their visa.

Does anyone know if the children do this by a few months will they be black listed from coming back in?

Thanks

Anita

they shouldn't be and in the main they aren't. But we have had a report in the past where immigration almost refused to let a primary school aged child back into the country given that he had stayed more than 90 days out of 180 on tourist visas.

If you are here on proper work visas etc then it is wise to get your child a non-immigrant O visa when you next head out of the country, which can then be extended in synch with your current extensions of stay.

I'm travelling on my own at the moment and have a 2 year old and as 5 year old. Not fun to travel with unless nesessary :o They have both been here now 37 days over their 30 day visa (2nd one). I went to Ranong last month. Now I have to go to get something more substantial as I've been in 3 times now on the 30 day.

my mum is here now visiting, seemed like a good time to get a 3 month and leave the kids with her then when hubby is here in around 6 weeks we could all go out together and get something for kids too.

Do you think that would work?

Hi...been living on and off Koh Samui for the past 4 years, my son schools there at the international school (son is 9 years old)...i dont use any visa for him after being advised by immigration on the Island that children are exempt from the regulations mposed on adults...I have taken my son back to England on occasions, and never had any problems with immigration at Suvanabhumi, his most recent term in Samui was 2 years unbroken without a visa, and no problems...suggest you check with your consulate

My 5 year old daughter had an overstay of almost 2 years by the time we took her out of the kingdom (and my husband and I had non immigrant O visas). We asked about the fine at the airport as we had anticipated one but the officer pointed to a very large sign overhead stating that minors under the age of 17 cannot be subject to any fines.

I made the decision early on not to bring such a young child on the arduous border runs and would have preferred a fine upon exit to that any day!

I left last week with my 5 year old on his UK passport, his Thai one had expired and Thai ex-wife has not signed over full custody papers yet, so no time to apply for Thai one. At BKK airport , immigration told me' you now are causing big problems' I asked why , he just shook his head.

On arrival back at BKK last night he got 30 days. I will be getting his new Thai passport in the next month, my question is when we leave next year for annual Uk holiday and they see entry date into Thailand and no exit , so overstay, will I have problems ? I am on a non img B, with work permit and single parent.

Farang children cannot be fined for overstay under the age of 14 not 7. Don't know about black listing but I doubt it very much

Thank you for the input.

When you write "farang", do you mean "farang" or "foreigner"?

Is this measure (no overstay for children under 14) only for a few western and rich countries or universal. My grand daughters are Cambodians and are NOT overstay nowadays but this info can be useful one day or another.

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

Sorry. I said "farang" because I assumed the children were western. I believe that the 'no overstay' fine under the age of 14 applies to all children, irrespective of nationality. When I read up on the subject I found no nationality exemptions. Always double check the facts though.
