Provincial governors ordered to prevent political violence

BANGKOK: -- Permanent Secretary for Interior Ministry Pongpyome Wasaphuti Friday instructed provincial governors nationwide to ensure that political demonstrations in their provinces would not end up in violence.

He said the provincial governors would have to make sure that opposite groups of demonstrators would rally in different locations to prevent clashes between them.

Pongpayome said the governors, who failed to keep order, might be transferred back to the Interior Ministry headquarters.
