Agreed Mr Maverick, I feel that I'm paying a small price for the entertainment.

It does suck though when you buy Dave and Lam a beer, and get billed for lady drinks :o

I hope your kidding about the ladydrink thing? :D:D

Of course I was kidding. For all existing and potential customers, Dave and Lam don't charge ladydrink prices - I just thought that as the beers are so expen..........sorry I'm not helping much am I? :D

I'm playing pool on Weds but should be able to get there by midnight - is the old fella playing his usual slot?

We should have a contest to see who can come up with the correct number of bars Lam has opened over the years? :o

Doubt anyone would be correct as Lam probably cant remember either! :D

To those who know him....can you ask both him and the band to decide what key they are playing in BEFORE they start?...and maybe both platy in that key.

In Pattaya 2 from what I remember. :D

He hasn't played with my rock band for 18 months so they are still getting used to each other again, as for the keys I don't think its something they are concerned about, the punters don't seem to be either.

Quite fine for someone else to tout Blues Factory - greatest live venue in Patters!! I highly recommend anyone go for a look and see. Lam/Mary - Blues Factory Band - all incredible and definite one of Patters major attractions.

Most local pubs in The UK have better bands than The BF and the beers cheaper to.

Problem w/ TBF house band is that they're way too loud (earplugs required to save what's left of my hearing) and play such an uninteresting selection of music. The heyday was years ago when TBF girls danced and the band actually played SOME blues; had a good harmonica player then, too, a short-haired fit-looking farang guy who sang as well. Mary, now, could be a good blues singer but evidently has never heard of the genre; and somewhow I just don't like her other lite selections/arrangements and her going around "interviewing" the patrons while she's performing--though maybe the tourists really are thrilled. On a positive note, the newer DJ is better than the old one. :o

However I haven't visited in about a year, so maybe things have improved. I'll drop in for a beer in the relatively near future. Wish we had some real blues bands in Pattaya.

Most local pubs in The UK have better bands than The BF maybe but what does that have to do with this topic? We're in thailand! and the beers cheaper to. are you sure?

As you said yourself you haven't been in for over a year so you might not notice changes that have been made, the houseband is alot quieter than before and as for blues, most songs played are blues but some are re-arranged to suit Mary's style, as for her not understanding the genre your right, she has learnt to sing blues since she joined, she never performed that style of music previously.

Interviewing wise it might thrill the tourists but isn't that part of the idea?

Real blues bands aren't easy to come by but we do have probably the most experienced blues musician in Thailand as band leader, blues unfortunately doesn't always suit the bill when the bar is full of guys and TG's who clearly don't understand the music, that's why the style sometimes changes. Rest assured its something that the band leader and myself aren't thrilled by but sometimes it has too be done to keep the atmosphere going in the bar.

Of course your most welcome to pop in for a beer, I'll even shout you one. :o

Anyway wasn't this topic about Lam? :D

No worse than a gogo price, and prob better entertainment than the bored feet shufflers on the poles. Course Dave still has the poles - Blues Factory Coyote Dancers? :o

You're not thinking of giving up on dancing at Jenny's are you ? :D

Years ago I loved the Blues Factory. Great Music, good crowd. Lots of Classic Rock. Problem is now the music is mostly Blues! I know the name of the bar should give you a clue to that but I loved the classic rock.

I even went to Lam's bar to relive old times but even though Lam was standing in the corner he never played. In fact, me and my girlfriend were the only punters there!

Now I know Lam is back at TBF I will try it again! unless of course he has given up rock and switched to Blues as well!

My only complaint is that Lam seems to take the stage right around the time I'm being tucked into bed (midnight?). I know Pattaya is about nightlife but mine kick starts much earlier than most it seems. I would be really happy if Lam went on earlier for his first set for me to enjoy and then again for those who want to stay for his next set or the owls just arriving. If I saw one good Lam set, I would go home satisfied, frequent Blues Factory more often, and then someone else would be happy to have my still warm seat. :o

Of course I will sound biased but in my honest opinion Lam's playing at the moment is the best i've heard for probably 3 years and he seems to be enjoying it again, no long breaks and short sets etc and he's back to playing his classic rock stuff including the beethoven solo's etc. :D
