In heavy traffic hours, I do the following...

1. Taxi from Swampy to BTS On-Nut station (150-200 baht)

2. BTS from On-Nut to Morchit (60-70 baht?)

3. Taxi Morchit to Don Muang (100-150 baht)

This is the fastest, most reliable means I use. In lighter traffic, and if I have a big enough wad of cash--taxi all the way.

In both cases, I'd allow 3 hours between flights.

Take a taxi from Suvarnabhumi using the Motorway onto the Express Way and then onto the Toll Way to Don Muang.

Pay all the Express Way (2) and Toll Way (1) Fees (you have three of them) and only 1 or less hour to Don Muang.

Fees where in Jan 2008, (Express Way 25 baht, 40 baht) and (Toll Way 30 baht), plus get a Meter Taxi, (cost ???) 50 odd kms to there. Added bouns, no traffic lights and no stops.

Good Luck,

Yours truly,

Kan Win :o

what are the travel options from suvarnabhumi to don muang. any advice will be appreciated.

I've done this twice now. My plane always arrives around midnight. I just take my time, go on up to the top floor and catch a cab. It will be an hour or less. I think I paid around 4 or 500 Baht (12-15 US dollars). Don Muang is a ghost town until around 6 in the morning so if you want to eat or buy anything do it at BKK before you get in the cab to DM. I also know that there are buses that go and you can find the information on the Suvarnabhumi web site. It kind of depends on what time your arrivals and departures are as to what to do. I don't really see how one could do any better than to take a taxi. Good luck.

I do the Swampy (catchy, I like that) - Don Muang and vice versa trip twice a month. I have noticed an increase in fares slightly since the spring but I think that some drivers have slightly doctored meters. Anyhow, I usually take the taxi meter both ways; 100baht for the tolls and 300-400 for the ride. If the driver is really good I give a good tip. I usually hit rush hour traffic and it's not that bad.

I arrive Swampy @ 0730ish but hang out at Swampy until around 1100 as my flight to Udorn is @ 1300ish. Reverse I arrive Don Muang @ 1630ish and go straight away to Swampy. Its never more than an hour with or with out traffic, I could be lucky, but I doubt that.

I took the #5 bus from Don Muang once but it stops before Swampy and you have to scramble to another bus for the short 10 minute trip the rest of the way. Personally the taxi meter is the way to go.

The best and cheapest way I find ,also safer than taxis is to use the green shuttle bus number 555 its only 40 baht and its the coldest aircon in the LOS :o
