Thai Translator(english To Thai) That Knows Construction

I have a friend with several classic Farang build problems & his wife is either a stubborn buffalo or is afraid to lose face.

At this point since the work is not being done at all right he is asking if anyone knows a translator to tell the contractor what he wants done.

I am trying to help him but my Thai or Quai Thai I speak won't work to well. like most of us who have built a house or is building a house, know about the frustration. If anyone knows someone that can fit this bill please let me know. It is a pretty decent size structure & the contractor is using green horns to do structural welding on second story construction. Unfortunately he is in to deep to just bite the bullet & walk away.

Thanks guys . any help appreciated

Same welders that built your window frames perchance? :o

Assume they are welding the roof structure right? As there should be no welding on the second storey.

Roofs are important and should not be entrusted to green horn welders, if not structurally sound they can sag or worse they can flex under overpressure on the leaward side and can lift off.

If they can't follow a drawing then he has to fire them and get proper contractors into to do the job correctly. No amount of translation is going to improve their welding skills.

Naa the work is similar to the problems when they built your house & you had to buy a hammer & smash out the tile & have it redone properly :o

But seriously his house is huge 3/4 of a rai larger than yours & he decided he could be the general contractor on the site with very limited experience in the building trade.

The welding was almost perfect. 3 spots needed to be redone a friend of mine showed them how to make all the cuts on the steel down below (they were using an acetylene torch to cut of the ends & trying to reweld them with the huge gaps.

Even at that the dog pile method was corrected with the double pass they made with the welder. It just looked sloppy.

We cut gusset plates & angle braces & I showed them what to set the welder & I welded the plates in for the contractor to copy.

Since this job is (more akin to a commercial job-looks like the size of a small hospital) & he is already over by 3-4 million baht as the contractor has never bid on a house that is larger than a rai large .

He really just needs a mouthpiece not advice as he knows what is right building apposed to the Thai way..

He is on his 3rd crew as the first 2 crews were worthless.

So if anyone knows a good translator that knows construction(Not a google'r) please let me know. His wife is not any help at all. She is the worthless type that needs to have staff take care of the cleaning because she is to lazy.
