Immigration Visa Help, Please !

I have a friend arriving in Chiang mai for a 3 week visit.

She does not qualify ( being South African ) for a visa on arrival and has to procure one from the Embassy in her country.

QUESTION:

1. If she wished to cross the border into Burma and return same day ( as with the usual 90 day visa runs for us longer-term foreigners )

would she be able to do this on a normal 30 day visa , or would she have to get a multiple-entry visa which is usually only offered with longer term visas ( 60 or 90 days ? ).

She might be tempted to do a similar run into Laos just to say she'd "been there and done that".

Any advice, please, that I could pass on to her ?

Returning from Laos or Burma is an entry so she will need a multiple entry visa. What is question #2? This rocket science is tough today, but multiple entries can make it worthwhile.

Thank you Bill97 - as I thought.

Sorry about #2 - just ran out of questions !

Appreciate your help.
