I am very unfamiliar with Bangkok and was wondering if anyone knows of lower priced hotel or guest house near Times Square Building, which is on Sukhumvit Road.

• Sukhumvit Crowne Hotel, between Soi 6 and 8
  
• Honey Hotel, Soi 19
  

There are others, but those two spring to mind. Neither is more than about 5-10 minutes walk.

Crowne Hotel is hardly the best local option for its price, which was around 1000 to 1100 per night the first (and last) time I stayed there....

This meets your cost and location requirements.... 1000 and up is the more normal range for hotels around the area there...

Like many other places the Honey has raised their prices. The newly remodled rooms on the street side above the pool are now 1300฿ as are the big rooms with the large windows in back. The interior and parking lot rooms may still be available for around 900฿ but they are dark, worn out and not worth even 800฿ IMHO.
