Maybe he means only the next station after Saphan Taksin will be ready The extension is about 6 km long, but only two stations have been completed, and yes, the second station is about 2 km from the river. THere has been no work on the other planned stations, nor on the line itself.

October 11, 200817 yr With the huge traffic problems on the Taksin bridge you would think they would be keen as mustard to make this happen, the next couple of stations seem to be ready to go and have been for a while. You only have to look how busy the ferry is to realise the BTS will hit the ground running with customers.

Amazing ThailandYeah, then last I read it was testing was to commence in August (two months ago) with the line set to open in March. Someone said aside from the usual political bickering it had something to do with the control systems (switching technology?) that the Thonburi side had opted for needing to be reconciled with the Bangkok side. Still, that doesn't sound like the kind of thing that takes a crack group of professional engineers an extra year or two, heh. As always, the most entertaining thing remains the number of people who bought "riverfront" condos to rent marketing them as "Near BTS!" and then when you read further down their listing you see "set to open early 2009." Poor bastards, left sitting on those condos for-eh-ver now.
