Mini-saga On Sending Cargo Within Thailand

Featured Replies

Yesterday, I came in to SUV airport after a 23 hour trip from California - including layover times.

I wanted to stay in Bkk area, but chose to ship two heavy suitcases up to Chiang Mai - ahead of me getting there.

In the old days, at Don Muang, I found how to do that rather painlessly. At the new airport, I went to several different Info counters, asking how to go about shipping by air within the country, and each one told me different information - and all of it faulty. Not their fault, they just didn't know what to say - plus they couldn't 'think outside the box.' I then asked at the P.O. up there, and they said Air Asia. Air Asia said 'no' and told me to go to Thai Airways. Thai Airways said 'no' and told me to go to Free Zone. After a long time and much frustration, it was a shuttle bus driver who had the best answer to my question. He told me not to get off at the vast 'Free Zone', but instead took me to Thai Airways shipping. This was ironic, because Thai Airways office at the airport terminal (just 600 meters away) didn't even know their company did a shipping service.

Anyhow, to make a long story not too much longer, I was treated well by Thai Airways and the shipping cost was low.
