Relocation Of Security At The Airport

Featured Replies

It is my understanding that the Security Checkpoints at Suvarnabhumi Airport were to be moved closer in to Immigration on October 1st allowing travelers to roam around the shops and restaurants prior to boarding without having to go through the checkpoints to board their planes. Has this happened? How is it working?

I flew out on the 2nd, nothing had changed. Probably because there is no space to put the checkpoints even if they wanted to move them?

More likely is an other safety concern; in fact a fair lot of airports are moving back safety checks to the respective gates:

if you have just 1 general check at the entry-this means that transit passenegrs are not screened again-and the USA thinks this is a grave safety concern. It also means much more rigorous checks to airportworkers airside (like in the dutyfree, restaurants etc.). Most likely all these things have ot been properly considered.

Which airports would these be?

Security checks for domestic flights have been relocated from the gates to just after check-in counters before the big escalator down to level 1.

No more checks at the gates which is much more convenient.
