Young retire with "o" visa, want 1 year visa

Recommended Posts

I have a non-immigrant "O" Visa from abroad. Are married to a Thai and want to apply for a one year visa. Because of an accident in young age as an UN soldier on mission do I have income from abroad (combination of pension and sosial security fund). Approximately US 1600 pr.month.

Is there anyone who have experience with what documents I need for apply for a one year visa when you have an income, but are not employed and not old enough to be recognized as a retired.

I have heard that a prove of income from abroad through correctly transelated documentation and legalized from my embassy can be the way!

But down here South it looks like the only way is "cash on the table"

Recommendations higly requested ???

Your income is sufficient for a visa as a man married to a Thai.  Take notarized evidence of income to Immigration. You need to produce your marriage documents. Take your wife with you, and her ID card.  Be aware that there is a fee hike on 26 Augus. It might be worthwhile trying to do it without the notarizing to beat the rise.

As the dr Rx'd you fully meet requirements for support of Thai wife (assuming your wife agrees); and with about 200k in a Thai bank account you should be able to obtain an extension of a non immigrant visa without official need of your pension statement (although it is good extra proof - but would not require the 'retirement' type Embassy letter).  You do have to obtain a letter from the bank addressed to immigration that your account has xxxxxx money on a date within the week.  If you can not meet the August 26 deadline you should still be ok, but it may tie up more money.

No good luck here down South. I really wonder if they are (Immigration) representative for Thailand as whole!

They want to see the cash. The spesification from my embassy was not enough. They have even increased it to 250K and a Guaranty from two Thais?

Well before I ask anyone here for a Guarantee, Iàm long gone,

and thank good that the door back home is still open.

Anyway thanks for the advices.

Money in the bank is the main requirement for a one year stay and for most this seems to be 250k.  As for the guarantee they probably just mean your wife has to sign the document so would not give up yet.

Until you have the cash in the bank you can obtain a one year multi entry O visa with your marriage certificate/copy of wife's id card at a consulate such as Penang and live here with only a border crossing every 90 days required.
