As much as I enjoyed voting in Global DJ's 'Will boxhead do hard time'? poll with its many options, I'm interested what the denizens of TV really think as to whether he (Toxin, not Globaldj) will ever see the inside of Bang Kwang or similar? Hence there are only two options in this poll.

My personal bet is that the answer is a bit of a 'shoe-in', but there's some strange people out there in TV land and they all deserve a voice.

he might or might not...

we'll see!

I don't think most Thais even his opposition even want him to go to jail. I do think they want him to stay away. It seems to me, this will work to keep him away for good. How can he ever come back now?

He is still in possession of incredible wealth and behind the scenes power. In Thailand that stands for, you cant harm me, I`m well above the law.

Strip him of his wealth, therefore losing his power, than Thaksin becomes eligable to serve prison sentences just like the rest of us peasants.

Impossible for him to go to jail. jail.gif Once he's got his 70 billion baht back, who could resist him? (By 'who' I mean 'what Thai judge or court')

15-0 at the moment in favour of him staying out. Seems about right.

will the Pope convert to Islam? :o

He has no chance for appeal. There is no higher court for him to appeal to.

That is why he will never be extradited from the UK and will most likely be granted asylum.

So unless there is change in the law or he is granted a pardon he won't be back.

the same day flying pigs have a snowball fight across the river Styx.

but well before Mr T even sees the outside wall of a jail.

A more pertinent question may be "When, after the rewrite of the constitution is completed, will Mr T return as the rebirth of the prodigal son?"

I doubt that Mr. Thaksin will ever see the accomodations at the Bangkok Hilton.

Two possible scenerios:

1. Thaksin will head for Cambodia and build a casino empire as well as getting his hands dirty in oil reserves in Cambodia. His political influence will still reach across the Thai border.

2. Thaksin will undergo a physical transformation, undergoing a a complete face change operation. He will settle down somewhere in LOS. He will live his life in a humble fashion and anonomously donate 1,000 baht to each of Thailand's 65 million population.

:D:o

I am of the opinion he will never serve one minute behind bars.

The UK let anyone in and anyone stay, however the awful weather equates to far more than a two year sentance

The poll right now says 28-2 that he won't and I dont expect the results to change much

I doubt he will return as the prodigal son, since the script for that would have him ready to humbly confess, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight. I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of the hired servants." His ego requires him to return as rich as Croesus, as a conquering hero-saviour.

I don't think any government would want him here in jail - a focal point for his supporters and casting a shadow and influence over whatever government may be in power. Better men than Thaksin, those who made genuine attempts to establish democracy in Thailand, were forced to spend their lives in exile. I'm sure he'll manage.

Now, maybe if someone could find a way to banish a few more of the leaders on either side of this yellow-red divide, some progress could be made in the country.

No, or at least not jail as you and I and most other people would think of it.

I am moving this poll from the forum “General topics” to the forum “Farang Pub - fun, entertainment and Expat life”, where it will get greater attention.

There is also this other poll running on the same subject. The two topics cannot be merged because a topic can have only one poll.

That's probably the most sensible post ever made on TV. The whole Thaksin/PPP/PAD farce belongs in "Farang Pub". :o
