Hi all,

Need some help trying to arrange the best way to get from Samui airport to Koh Phagan. Our flight arrives at 4pm on Dec 30th so its going to be very very busy. I know most ferries stop around 4-5pm.

Is there any decent services leaving Samui after 5pm and can i book this on arrival? Otherwise is there a good online facility where i can prebook?

Im actually staying at the Havana beach resort, Thong Nai Pan beach. I presume there a taxis everywhere that can be used to go from the pier to the hotel?

All advice most welcome.

last ferry to kpg is at 5 or 6 pm after that you need to take a private boat.

The last boats to get to Koh Phangan are: Haad Rin Queen at 6:30 pm from Bang Rak (10 min. to the airport) 200 BAHT

or

Seatran Ferry from Nathon pier (20 min.from the airport maybe more sometime) à 6:30 pm, 230 BAHT :o

There's also the Lomprayah from Mae Nam at 17.30. If you ask at the desk at the airport, they'll arrange for transport to and a ticket for whichever boat is next to leave (well the Hadrin Queen and the Lomprayah, I don't think they bother with the Nathon service).

I don't think there will be a problem finding a taxi. If you come on the Lomprayah you'll be fine as it lands at Thong Sala. If you come into Had Rin, you might need to get a taxi to Thong Sala first and then get one back out to Thong Nai Pan.

Ahh great. So there is a transfer desk at the airport. Thats a great help!

Oh and does anyone have a realistic idea about how busy it is over NYE. We are planning to go to the NYE full moon party but I hear there are 30-50000 people that typically go. Any experiences on this?

New Years Eve is not the full moon in December. The full moon party is on the 12th of December. the New Years Eve Party is just New Years Eve. :o

It is quite a big party but I don't think as many people come over from Samui as do for the FMP. Personally, I wouldn't say its anywhere near 50,000.

Really??

Is that the way the taxis work on pagnan? They only drive you to next village and then you have to change taxi? :o

Sounds crazy....

The Thong Nai Pan road is under the control of a different taxi cooperative than the Hadrin Road. Also, the road to TNP is not necessarily the best road to drive on and many of the regular taxi drivers do not like to drive it. Esp since it means they will have to come back empty.

Arrange the taxi with Havana, they should be able to pick you up at the pier.
