Visa Needed To Wait In Thailand For My Fiancee's Visa

Featured Replies

Hi to all. Hope you can help me.

I am US citizen. I want to go stay in Thailand with my fiancee while we wait for her Visa. Should receive Visa in 2-4 months, possibly 6 with the back log.

What is the best Visa to apply for?

I have money in the bank to support us and my work is internet based so no problem continuing to work while I'm there. I ready many description that seem to conflict with one another. Can you help?

Any advise will be very appreciated!

A double entry tourist visa can be obtained from Vientiane Laos. This will give you almost 6 months with extensions.

Each entry is for 2 months and can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration.

Or if you're still in the USA at the moment get the double-entry tourist visa there before you leave.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

If still in the states get a tourist visa. You might even consider a 3 entry for good insurance if the consulate gives a 6 month use before date that would give you almost 9 months. Contact consulate before applying to confirm use by date.

Use the pull down menu at top of this page to find consulate near you. The Honorary consulates are the best and give quick mail in service.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I am still in USA now so I will do my homework.

Thanks so much.

P.S.... Any chance you all would know anything about Affidavit of Support for fiancee?

Why Thailand does not allow co-sponsor?

Also.... ever heard of proof of support coming from the use of an Surety Bond, the same kind that is used in the USA for business contracts I guess..... heard this guy talking about using one but I really dont believe it.... just asking your thoughts????

Thanks again

No problem to get a tourist visa. As I said before the honorary consulates are best. Some of the official consualtes (DC, NY, LA and Chicago) take a long time to do mail in applications and can be less flexable on the use by date if you want to do the 3 entry visa.

Suggest you check the "Visas and migration to other countries" forum for info about fiancee visa questions or do a topic there.
