Monday morning approx 7.30/8 am from Suk soi 18 next to Asoke to Swampy?

I guess best way to go is to get taxi soi 18, turn left on Suk, U-turn at Asoke and take On-Nut all the way?

Also guess light traffic on Suk outwards early in the morning?

I understand there is a walkway bridge to BTS close to from I will be staying, could take BTS to On-Nut and taxi from there or even wait for the 552 34 baht bus at Asoke or On-Nut, but don't want to wait for 30 minutes for something to show up like a bus.

I will find out about the walkway bridge tomorrow anyway :o

Don't think the BTS will save time or money though.

Thanks for comments.

7,30. or 8am on a monday morning traffic will be very heavy in that area. if you are taking a taxi, I should think the taxi driver will know the best way to go.

Monday morning 7:30 am ASOKE !!!!! LOL……..it will take over 1 hour to get out of the grid lock

Taxi down to Ploenchit express way entrance….fastest of all the ways to airport at that time of day (from lower Sukhumvit that is)…remember the airport bus stops across from Robinson near you

Yeah, terryp is spot on, I've gone to the airport from Nana (soi 4) many times and always gone via the express way at Phloenchit. Never a problem, always pretty quick. If you want to avoid the Sukhumvit traffic from Asoke, then I'd get the sky train at Asoke to Phloen Chit. Exit the sky train on the Northern side, then pick up a cab from there to the airport. I'm pretty sure that's what I'd do if I was in your situation.

Fastest way from where you are would be take either a cab or skytrain to Thong Lo and get on Rama 9 direct to the airport. It is super fast once on Rama 9 at that time of day (everyone is coming into town) and the traffic to Thong Lo/Rama 9 in that direction is definitely not worse than getting to expressway. Also, no toll and a shorter route.

I travel from the airport 8 to 10 times a year. Leaving in Taxi from Soi 30 I usually get there in 25 minutes.

Yes, the last poster is correct, but I may even have a better way. I have lived at Asoke for 3 years and travel to the airport several times a month and I always go Rama 9. Light traffic, faster, no tolls, compared to going from Sukhumvit.

The other (and arguably easier) way which I do all the time, is to take the MRT from Sukhumvit to Rama 9, get off on the Rama 9 Intersection exit and hop in a taxi there. This way you can totally avoid sukhumvit and go directly to the airport on Rama 9. I agree that Thong Lor is a decent option, but you have to cross to Ekkamai to get the bridge to make a right turn onto Rama 9, and this can sometimes be jammed.

I also work on Rama 9 halfway to the airport and this is how I commute to work every morning...MRT Sukhumvit to Rama 9 station, exit Rama 9 Intersection followed by taxi. Once in taxi, the total trip to the airport will definitely be under 30 minutes.

If you are in a rush, there is a toll option if you go this way which is another 25 baht, but in my experience it is not that different. It may save 5 minutes or so.

Good luck-
