Rage on the road turns fatal

PATONG: A hot-headed youth has been arrested after he shot and killed another man during an argument at a stoplight in Patong on Thursday morning.

The victim was 32-year-old Kamjon “Neng” Pungprom. He died from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The shooting occurred at the three-way intersection along the new Phang Muang Road, not far from the Patong Municipality building, while the the victim and the assailant – both riding motorcycles – waited for the lights to change.

The assailant, 19-year-old Thaweewat Lamduanhawm, was arguing loudly and cussing at his live-in girl friend, who was riding pillion, when Mr Kamjon pulled up behind them.

Mr Kamjon took offense at the stream of abuse and confronted the foul-mouthed youth.

The two men began trading blows, but when Mr Kamjon got the better of the altercation, Thaweewat pulled out a 9mm pitol and shot Mr Kamjon.

Thaweewat then fled the scene with his girlfriend, but Kathu Police arrested him a few hours later.

Thaweewat, from Surin Province, worked at a karaoke bar in Patong. Apparently, he had been having a very bad morning, arguing with his girlfriend the entire time, when confronted by Mr Kamjon. Thaweewat told police that he had only intended to fire a warning shot to scare off Mr Kamjon and never intended to kill him.

At last report he was still in a holding cell at Kathu Police Station while the case against him was being compiled for Phuket Provincial Court.

I posted this Gazette article up as not so long ago I found myself looking into the gun barrel of a mad man, just off Nanai Road. This can so easily happen. Jai Jin Jin is the lesson of this unnecessary death.

Not only on the street:

Friend of mine working as a Chef in a big hotel here in Phuket had a gun pointed to his head because he has ordered his food supply from the "wrong supplier"..............

Just once I'd like to see someone from PAD, PPP, TRT and all those other political groups stand up and have a rally directed at this sort of thing instead of the usual festivals of hyperbole and wild allegations.

I'm allowed to dream, aint I?

Well, so long as it's not as narcotically fueled as your post seems to be :o

Rage on the road turns fatal

PATONG: A hot-headed youth has been arrested after he shot and killed another man during an argument at a stoplight in Patong on Thursday morning.

I think the title of this thread is incorrect.

"Road rage" typically is when people have driving incidents with each other, i.e. someone cuts somebody off, follows to closely etc., in other words the "rage" is caused by driving actions. Not the case here.

The title of the news article is correct.

I read Your post and it says nothing about you looking down the barrel of a gun??? it says your neighbour was looking down one though!

oopps, sorry. i read further down the post and saw that you did have a gun shoved in your face.

Post 25?  I'm showing 13 posts to date so I guess there was some heavy editing done on this thread so the numbers correlate.
