Discounted Hotels/apartments

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've heard of all these unbelievable deals on accommodations in Thailand. 75% off, free food, etc. Because there's a recession, people are afraid of Thailand, etc.

I'm coming to Bangkok for all of January, and I'm spending February either in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. I've been checking the internet, and calling lots of serviced apartments and hotels. I can't seem to find any deals.

Anybody have any hints as to good bargains?

Thanks.

I've heard nothing of the sort. They put the prices up at this time of the year.

Classic and simplified example here :

I'm nothing to do with this hotel but I stayed here earlier in the year in low season - note how the prices more than double up from low season to the high season.

I don't believe the link breaks forum rules, if it does then remove it by all means.

at the high end accommodation, with a big profit margin, hotels and serviced appartments can drop charges considerably - but don't ever expect 75% and don't dream of "free food".

as it's a high season and prices are inflated two or even three times of the regular rent, some started already offer discounts for the end of the high season, sometimes for the spring 2009. Think of it rather as a clever marketing trick rather than a real bargain.

free food are found thruout los shopping malls. just go to those places that use coupons. watch when people leave and get to the leftovers be4 the cleaning lady comes around.

even in los people dont eat all their food.
