Buying Watches In Thailand (my Problem)

Recommended Posts

When I was in Pattaya I purchased a digital/analog watch that I have come to love. Well it is not working properly now. The hands move but the digital background does not appear anymore. I would like to get it fixed and have taken it to 2 or 3 places here in my home state of Delaware but they were unable to repair it. All they did was replace the battery and looked to see if it worked.... The digital display will appear until the back of the watch is installed.....

I am wondering if any of you know of a place here in the USA that repairs copy watches? The watch I have is a Swiss Army Super Sport. (Copy).

Any help would be appreciated!

It being a copy is not the problem. I could care less if it was a copy or not. I purchased it simply for the dual dial. I think it is a battery problem (The watch takes 3).

I am willing to even send the watch back to Thailand to have it fixed. I tried to find the original online but can't find one like it. I would be willing to pay as much as $200 for an original. I think I had seen a Timex at the Airport that would be acceptable but I can't find that one on the Timex website either......

I think the key here is to buy three of a "copy" item that you like, then toss as the go TU, or save the broke one(s) 'til your next trip to the LoS.

Don't give up, half the watches coming in most shops are copies, a good shop usually has draws of junk watches, parts and misc, try a few more shops.

A clever tech can usual do some work-around, in your case sounds like one of the batt(s) is shifting when the cover is secured, either losing connection or shorting out, you'd be surprised what a little Scotch 88 will fix.

Usually what fails first is the band, the gear works in most are nylon, amazing they work as long as they do, digitals are pretty robust, usually batt or connection problems,

Yes, a lot of us love our knock-offs, for sentimental reasons or simply because they're unique, we want to keep them alive.

Good luck. :o

UPDATE!!!!

I was not able to find a place to fix my watch. It seem that the real problem was that they were not able to match the batterys that orginaly came with the watch.

I found the exact watch here in Delaware at a retailer known as the "Burlington Coat Factory". The only difference is that this watch has the US Polo logo and emblem on it. The one I purchased in Thailand has the Swiss Army emblem and logo on it.

In Pattaya I paid 1000 baht for it. Here in Delaware I paid $9.99 usd.

Today I am a happy camper!
