I was in Rot Fai Park the other day. It's around the back of Jatujak if you're not familiar with it.

I spotted a treeshrew nosing around the flower bed. I watched it for quite a while. Judging by its tail, I would guess it was either a Common or Northern Treeshrew.

Has anybody living in the Bangkok area got these in their garden? They are diurnal so would be seen as easily as squirrels.

I am wondering if the park is sustaining a breeding population or if it is simply a discarded 'pet'.

We had them living in our kitchen roof in our old townhouse (Samutprakan, but without any real break in the concrete from Bangkok). We lived at the end but they would happily run along the ledge of the whole row and some houses had trees planted in front that they would make use of. At our far end was a wall with one large tree and a swamp the other side. They would chase each other along the wall and jump around the tree, and even when you couldn't see them you could hear them.

Perhaps they are far more common than I thought, at least in terms of their tolerance of a man-made habitat.
