New Passport For Thai Wife

Featured Replies

Could someone provide me with some quick info on where to renew the wife's (Thai) passport in Bangkok.

I heard it was in the Laksi/Chang Wattana district. Can it be done in a day as I was planning of driving down. We live about 4 hours drive away.

Plus I was thinking of changing it for our married name as she would like to visit UK later this year, does this help??

Cheers on a quiet Sunday

Name change can be done at any amphur, as long as she has the id, tabienbaan, and marriage certificate with her.(will take only a few hours, depends on how busy that day)

then off to the passport office

Passport can be done in only a few hours, then 2-3 days waiting to receive (either pick up in person, or mail to you w/ small fee).

She must have her old passport, id, and tabienbaan with her.

Thanks Mario & Teacup, useful web pages and I have bookmarked them for further reference,

It's Chaengwattana Road for me then, an area I know reasonably well as I married in Don Muang.

The good wife has a fine Anglo Saxon name already which was changed on marriage several years ago and her new ID card/house book has had the same name too, its just that her old Thai passport has expired and has her original family name. We will apply for new one and as these matters take some time I will book into the Louis Tavern for one night!, a good hotel in Laksi I can recommend.
