It should work. She needs to apply for a new passport. If you are in Thailand, go to the Amphur. Show the paperwork, chamge the name in the administration. She will get a new ID-card. Then apply for a new passport. If you are not in Thailand, I guess the admin in Thailand needs to be changed anyway. But, any guess is better than mine. TerryLH
It used to be that you didn't have to get a new passport. On the "observations" page (2nd page after photo page) they put an 'endorsement' stamp and filled it out with the new name info. It's a standard stamp, specifically for name changes because of marriage. The passport I'm looking at is old, so it's possible there have been changes. uglydogfarm
This is what I got from the Chicago consulate in December. "We can not change her last name in the passport. She has to change last namne in Thai ID first by 1. Translate married certificate/license into Thai language and then have Thai consulate certify the translation 2. Husband have to do the letter of consent to have his wife using his last name at the Thai consulate once you have the above document done bring them to Thailand to change the last name at the local district after done that she can change in Thai Passport Regards, Passport Section Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago 700 N. My wife did this too, but that was a few years ago.
