Hi,

I am getting married this week and will be going abroad to get my visa non-immigrant visa O during the week-end. To get married to a thai national I need to have the following documents(on my side, not my wife who needs other documents):

1. Freedom of Marriage. Once obtained I translated it and got it approved by the Immigration office.

2. Passport. I thought this document needed to be translated but no. It dosn't need to be. Different people told me different things but then I went through a legal company which told me what are the document I require to get married.

For the visa, I need application form TM.7. Where can I get this document?

Copy and original of passeport

1 x 4*6 photo

Marriage certificate

1,900 bath fee

I hope I didn't missed anything. If yes please let me know. My question is where is the best place to go and obtain that visa?

Regards

It all depends if you want a single or multi entry. Penang, Kl , Vientienne Laos will issue a single entry without too much problem .This will dive you 90 days.

The Multi Entry gives you as many entries as you want up to 90 days each entry. This Visa can be stretched out to 15 months. Probably Penang or KL will be the best bet. They will want to see a bank book with some money in it. Always a good idea to take your Wife or a letter from her asking for the Visa to be issues. You will also need copies of her ID Card and house registration. The fee is not 1,900 Baht. Single Entry 2,000 Baht. Multi Entry 5,000 Baht

Once you have a Non Imm O Visa you can get 12 month extensions from Immigration if you have 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank OR 40,000 Baht monthly income. You need tm7 form for that and the fee is 1,900 Baht.

After you get married you can go to a consulate and get a non-o based upon marriage.

The form, fee and price you mention is for immigration to get an extension of stay.

To get the visa the application form will depend upon which consulate you go to. You will need a copy fo your marriage certificate (both sides), your wifes ID card and house book plus a copy of your passport photo page.

Where to go will depend upon whether you want a single entry visa or multiple. All nearby conulates will give a single (IMO Vientiane is best). Only KL and Penang will give multiple entry visas.

If you plan on staying long term here you can get a 1 year extension if you can show income of 40,000 baht per month or 400,000 baht in the bank for 60 days.

What kind of visa do you have now? It is possible to do a change of visa status here abd get the extension. Or even get a 60 days extension to visit your wife.

HI,

Ok I'll go to KL. But I thought that this visa would be for 12 months! I am planning to stay here for long. If I get a multiple entry visa of 5,000 bath, every 3 months I can simply go to a border and re-enter Thailand? Am I right?

In Kl you will still need to show some money in a Thai bank account. How much varies from report to report (low 0 high 400,000). It seems to help if you take your wife along (short Honeymoon maybe).

You will need to make border runs every 90 days. You can get almost 15 months by making a border run just before your visa expires.

If you have the money in the bank it would be better to get a single entry and extend it for 12 months at Immigration in Thailand. Then you would not need a border run every 90 days. But you do need 400,000 Baht in the bank to do this.

To make sure, when I first apply for a visa O I don't need to show that I have a revenue of 40,000 bath or 400,000bath in a thai bank account

Thanks

No one can be 100% sure. You definately will not need the 40,000 income. You will need some money in a bank but probably not 400,000. Some reports say zero and some do not. Why don't you get in touch with them and ask.
