A visa does not allow you to work. You need a work permit to work.

In fact what you are doing is one of the jobs that you cannot get a work permit to do.

Sorry, but as said you cannot work in the shop and you will not get a Work Permit to make it legal.

You risk being arrested if anyone reports you and being in a shop it is quite obvious what you are doing.

you should apply for work permit but will cost you time and money, however

if you dont make troubles and you speak fluent thai the risk is very small that they will arrest you and if you happen to be in such a situation a coffee money is asked by the police, i have worked in Thailand with NON-B for 3 years now and I get caught only once and I had to settle 5,000 baht. to avoid problems

He will not get a Work Permit to work in a shop.

It is his choice as to whever he wants to risk it. Advising him to go down this road is iresponsible.

Isn't there a WP available for a foreigner working in his/her spouse's business that meets certain criteria?

Thank you,

Martian

The only thing that you get special is a reduction of the number of Thai employes and financial requirements needed by 1/2.

He woild still not get a work permit to work in the shop as he described in his post.
