Ais Net Sim Combined With Edge Speed

Featured Replies

Am using an unlocked E156 Modem on an Advent Laptop in conjunction with a "Netsim" from AIS.

Am suitably impressed and the Edge connection must be right at the top of its limitation.

The sim came with 30 hours inclusive which apparently costs 99 baht inclusive of the 210 baht total price.

Assuming I use the 30 hours within the 30 day timeframe (I will) can I just purchase another 30 hours and restart the 30 day limit ??

Hi Chivas,

You can subscribe to a GPRS package, or buy extra hours.

You do both by calling *138 and listening to the options.

For a subscription you have to choose "monthly package" and choose one you like. 20 hours will be something like 100 Baht/month.

Since you will also keep getting the 30 hours free (for 1 year I think), you'll be up to 50 hours/month then.

If you only very seldom will go over the 30 hours, you can also get like an extra 10 hours without subscribing. (through the same *138).

Two things to remember, if you don't use the simcard for phone calls, you're going to end up with lots of cash on it, as you will need to refill with 300 Baht every 30 days to keep the card alive!

Also, when your gprs hours run out, you'll still get connected but the system will deduct 1 Baht/minute from your credit.

I know there are promotions out there which allows you to get more days out of a credit top of (at the expense of higher call charges, ideal for low volume callers) but this would void your 30 hours free!

Hi Monty,

Did'nt get the impression that the 30 hours was every month but as the girl in Khorats "The Mall" didnt speak much english and I was relying on my limited Thai.

I guess I could just use another Dtac or AIS sim of which I have both at the moment anyway.

If I use the DTAC can I just top up with a package every other month (am in Thailand one month on, one month off) but I guess I still need to keep the sim alive ??

I dont really want to be topping up via a package when Im not in Thailand ??

Must say Im astonished by the speed of Edge here-websites fly open !!
