I would imagine that many Western women fell the same way that you do, but there are a lot of topics on here that are offensive to somebody. :ermm:

It is very easy to say I am the one not being realistic, being narrow minded, being a Western woman (which I am not btw) bla bla bla... Too easy. I am not even religious. I am not offended either.

What makes me sick is:

1) even if sex is cheap, you don't have to talk cheap about women involved or even about Thai women in general

2) if you are involved with a girl that could be your granddaughter, that's your business and hers. But why being proud of it? I wonder how you'd (not you personally Ulysses) feel when your granddaughter comes home with a guy your age and says: " Yeah grandpa, he pays my tuition"

3) I am always amazed (still) how easy people behave in a way they'd never behave in their original environment. In an economical underdeveloped country it is so easy to buy a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g you want. And especially men who used to have a pretty straight life and now are showing off 'his' teenager...brrr...

4) And what me really really makes me sick is: when you think it is about a general topic (in this case about Disco's in CM) it's with a hidden subject: picking up Uni-girls,

Use the subforum about playmates in Thailand! There you can post (more) freely about them!

Boy, you hit the nail on the head. Half of my family lives in Canada and half in the US. I have two Canadian daughters and two American daughters. When we go to Quebec city everyone speaks French and eats with the fork not leaving the left hand. When we go to Florida everyone speaks American and the fork gets transferred to the right hand.

I live in Thailand, I assume you don't.

You said, "I am always amazed (still) how easy people behave in a way they'd never behave in their original environment."

So what is my environment? What is my daughters environment? Is it Canada or the US?

I have raised my daughters not to be ethnocentric. They adapt easily to different places.

One of my daughters went to college in Japan. She didn't like Japanese men because they all smoked and were small. She likes big guys who don't smoke. Fair enough. She could have been making big bucks in Japan but she came back to Canada and married a doctor who works out daily. He is a big guy.

I love my daughter but she is a bigot. She is also ethnocentric. Maybe it is in her female reproductive genes. I don't know.

I do know that Japanese men are not like American or Canadian men. If you don't believe me watch some Japanese porn and then some California porn. Like night and day. Different strokes. Japanese women make sounds in bed that drive most Thai women nuts.

Japanese women are not like Thai women.

Would a Thai older man pick up a uni girl and take her out to breakfast for the world to see?

I know a 60 year old Thai man in Chiang Mai who keeps 6 uni girls. He pays tuition and room and board and allowance. I have never seen him with one of his mia noi's. His brother has one mia noi. I have seen him with her almost weekly. I have also answered phone calls from his wife late at night when she is trying to find him (it's not pretty).

I would say in general Thai men don't show off their younger women. Some do but it is the minority.

I have seen Thai men at a restaurant by the river at an office party, each with two paid women eating dinner and drinking and listening to music. I see it all the time. I know the women are not wives by the way they act and the fact that I know the women, who wink at me when the Thai guys are not looking.

You said, (I hope you don't mind me repeating) "I am always amazed (still) how easy people behave in a way they'd never behave in their original environment." There is no doubt in my mind that you will never leave your original environment at least not in your mind. Me? My original environment? I moved to SEA 40 years ago - I was a young man. I have lived in so many places I really don't relate to my original environment. Now and for some time I have lived in Thailand. Thailand is my environment.

You think Thai women are the same as Englishwomen. You are wrong. They are not.

Someday the world may all be the same. Someday morals and propriety may all be the same. Someday old men will not show off young women in Thailand. But not today.

What you are demonstrating without a doubt is that you feel your original culture is superior to Thailand. What you are demonstrating without a doubt is that you feel superior to Thais. You dwell on what is accepted in England. This is not England. Maybe Thai Visa is a little bit of England in a jungle of loose morals and wild women and men who like wild jungle women with loose morals, especially dressed in white blouses and short tight skirts.

Picking up uni girls is hardly a hidden subject nor do the uni girls want it to be a hidden subject.

There is almost nothing in gods creations that is tighter than a uni girl's skirt. They wear them as short as the law allows. Uni girls are doing more advertising than most Go go joints. They want you to notice. A young woman does not wear a skin tight slit short skirt because she is planning on entering the nunnery.

Thai schools don't allow women to wear skin tight short skirts because it contributes to the quality of their education. It is about SEX.

Thailand is about SEX. This is not England. Sorry if this is news to you.

I know you want to say it doesn't exist. I know you want everything to be like jolly old England. But there is a short time hotel on every corner. There is a sexy woman every three meters. The grocery store is just as good place to meet women as the local bar. This is Thailand for gods sake. It has always been that way. Adapt a bit. This is not your original environment. The more you cry about the sorry state of western mens morals the more it becomes obvious you don't have any idea where you are.

Some great points - thank God Thai girls ARE different than 'Western' girls - it's one of the reasons we come here (forgive the pun)

Why not be proud of it??? If you have something good I would shout it to the world. :)

As for grand daughter or child that comes home with a older lad and she is above legal age then it is her business not mine. So I personally would not care. :)

For twenty years I lived on an island off the Florida coast with pure white immaculate sand and clean water filled with fish ready for the catching. I had banana trees, mangoes, pineapple, oranges and grapefruit growing in my back yard. Before that I lived in the Rocky Mountains and skied every day during the winter and rafted in white water in the summer. Clean air and clean mountain streams filled with trout. Before that I lived on the Columbia river in Oregon and watched eagles catch salmon in the morning. Before that I lived in San Francisco and Chicago and ate a lot at some of the best and least expensive restaurants in the world. I went to museums and looked at works of art by masters all over the world and raced sail boats in the Pacific and Great Lakes. Until I moved to Thailand I drank tap water in the US, Canada and Japan. I went to university in Canada and the US as did my children.

You tell me what Thailand has that is not ten times better somewhere else except women? There are one million Thais living in the US. The Thai food is better there. You don't get sick after eating.

I'm losing count now.Just one post ago you said that you moved here 40 years ago, then you tell us in above post from some other periods in your life, and I know from other posts of you that you claim to have spend extended periods in even other places.

So all your proclamations on this forum taken in account you must be at least 150 years old.

And one of the posters had the audacity to say I wasn't a legend in Pattaya. 150 years old and not a legend! And I only have one leg a glass eye and a artificial eyebrow.

and what does America have...?

fat women

high taxes

busy traffic

gun crime

drugs

oh and political correctness where you can't even open doors for women (assuming they would get through)!

Thailand? yes it has many faults - getting sick after eating is not one of them!

thin women who want to be with you (yes money is a consideration)

no taxes

reasonable traffic

some gun crime but not much - never seen any personally

must be drugs but don't see people on the street hawking drugs like I do in 'Ole USA'

no PC

Oh and elephants... monkeys, mountains, islands, temples, clear blue skies... Oh I wish I was in Dixie (not!)

At least Mark is younger than me. I'm only 284 years old. Every day fishing is not considered part of your alloted days on earth and I've been fishing so much I've got a free ticket from God.

I always think these discussions about old men and young Thai women are funny. The whole advertising business revolves around sex. And, because the whole world revolves around business, that is directly involved with marketing and advertising, it is also connected with sex. It is a proven fact that sex in all its avenues sells everything. Watch television for half an hour and tell me I'm wrong... beer ads show young folks attempting to pick out the most attractive mate. Autos are sold on how well they attract women. We are constantly pressured by ads promoting sexy clothing, or diets to make you more sexually attractive. The pop music culture is all about sex. You seldom see some fat old woman, or fat old man in an advertisement... unless it is used in a form of derision.

The self righteous morality group are mostly hypocrites. If they can't get it then nobody should be allowed to.

I always hear that same old story about what if your daughter or grand daughter came home with an old man, or was involved with selling her body. All I can aswer is it is entirely up to her. Hopefully I would have given her some options so she could make her own choice. Hopefully I would have raised a daughter who didn't drink, smoke or take illegal drugs either. I'd also hope she didn't marry some handsome young man who beat her, or controlled her emotionally to a point where she was terrified. I've seen a lot of those poor women who came from what were supposedly well adjusted western families.

It's OK if you want to slag America. I don't care. You obviously have never lived where I lived. There are beautiful women on the beaches in Florida topless and wearing T back bathing suits. There are nud_e beaches. There are resorts where the rich and famous flock.

High Taxes? Try Canada.

Busy traffic in the Colorado mountains or the San Juan islands? No , of course not only in big cities and that is big cities anywhere.

Gun crime like anywhere depends on where you live. Scotland has knife crime. Drugs sure, Thailand has Ya Ba to epidemic levels. Traffic, Bangkok is unlivable because of it. Guns, Thailand? The last time I heard of the army shooting protesters was at Kent State.

How many embassy warnings have you read for the US or Canada about food poisoning? Thailand has very poor food sanitation and water sanitation. I suppose you drink tap water here. I just love elephants especially the ones with red tail lights on that scare me because they sneak up behind me at night. Mountains? You call the little hills in Thailand mountains? If you think Thailand has mountains you need some help.

Monkeys that steal food at temples. Yes that is Thailand. I think they have them in India too.

I like good looking women. I like young good looking women. I like young good looking women when I wake up in the morning. I like women with black hair, almond shaped eyes, small breasts and big feet and soft skin. It's a plus if they are university educated.

I cohabited with young good looking women in the US. Very expensive both in terms of dollars and emotional health and well being. Even the tanning booth fees to get them a normal Thai complexion were expensive.

The PC stuff. Well I have to agree with you. It is one of the reasons I post on Thai Visa. There are a lot of people with the same mindset and it is good to be reminded.

FYI the States South of the Mason Dixon line are less PC than those up North with the exception of Florida.

Both of you have correct points. But the main reason that I decided to live in Thailand is because of the people. For the most part they are friendlier, much more charming, and are more sensitive. Decent people who definitely have their faults (for the most part they never seem to be able to wait their turn), but that's ok. I do not miss the scowling looks to which I had become accustom living in California. Don't miss it at all!

Hi Folks,

This is my first post as I am new to this forum, so please be gentle :D . I am an Aussie male in his early fifties looking to retire in Thailand over the next few years (probably to Chiang Mai). I know this sounds a little weird, but I am planning to retire with my wife of twenty years (she is not quite old enough for the retirement visa yet). There are heaps of things to love about Thailand in general and Chiang Mai in particular. Sure there are a lot of "dirty" old men with young girls, but that is not all what Thailand is about. I am looking forward to settling in and finding regular places to eat and drink and make friends, so hopefully I will be seeing you all soon.

Cheers

In Chiang Mai it's very easy to avoid the bar scene altogether. There are many retired married western couples living happily here. Pim at CityLife organizes lots of social events you would enjoy including lady's lunches for your wife. There's also the expat club, the writer's club and charitable foundations where you will meet like-minded people, and I'm sure other posters have other suggestions.

Experience is bliss,

I would always carry" a spare set, black skirt and white blouse 99baht in my kapow kang keng in case of any beverage accident and provide the immediate replacement and remedy to transform my 50+ into an instant uni stu. hasn't happened yet.
