Passport Expires Soon

Featured Replies

My mother is coming out to Bangkok to visit me in May/June of this year and her passport expires in October. Some countries require that a passport has 6 months validity to enter their country. As my mother will not need a tourist visa (UK national staying in Thailand for only 2 weeks), will she be allowed to enter Thailand on a passport that has only 4-5 months validity left?

She will need to get a new passport. Thailand requires 6 months remaining on the passport. That is one of the things airlines check for.

Yes, Joe is right. The requirement is a passport with at least 6 month validity. She would probably not come further then check-in at the airport. She will need a new passport.

Yes

It just says that 6 months validity is required.

Even with a return ticket and no visa?

Yes.

I did a visa run last year on my old passport and got talking to the immigration guy. He confirmed that they want to see a minimum of 6 months on a passport.

The good thing is that when you renew early you get the extra time added to the new passport.

OK boys, many thanks.

At least she has time to sort it out.

True, LB. By the way, how did your extension go?

No problem thanks. Will make another post.
