Japanese found dead after swim in Thai river

The Yomiuri Shimbun

BANGKOK--The body of a 20-year-old Japanese tourist was found Sunday night in the Kwai River in Kanchanaburi Province, western Thailand, after he went missing after going for a swim two days earlier.

Ryuta Nakajima, of Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, came to Thailand on a vacation and was reportedly swept away by the river's current while swimming. His body was found downstream from where he was last seen.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok and Thai police, Nakajima and two of his friends, both Japanese, went for a swim in the river on Friday night. Only Nakajima was swept away by the current, they said.
