When I'm due to renew my health insurance, I'm thinking about upgrading it: same company but better coverage.

I'm wondering what happens if a medical condition is diagnosed before the upgrade and treated after it. Would I benefit from the better coverage, or the condition being diagnosed before the upgrade would my coverage be limited to the previous policy?

Typically the company will allow you to upgrade but for the 'pre-existing' condition which may stay at the same level as at the start of the policy year.
