Is It Worth Leasing An Apartment?

Featured Replies

Towards the end of the year I'll probably be having an extended stay in Bangkok of between 9 months to a year.

I've been looking at the price of "half-decent" apartments.

What struck me was the expense - admittedly on "farang" websites. Dilapidated shoe-boxes for 20-40,000 baht a month :o

It seems much easier to rent a serviced apartment with free internet, electric, water, gym, swimming pool and none of the aggravation of signing a lease and getting your deposit back.

For example, you can rent a room at the President Park for 45,000 a month all in and use the gym and pool...I believe at the moment they're taking "offers" too :D

Any other suggestions for a good serviced apartment? Must have wifi and be on the BTS.

Many thanks :D

You'll possibly even get a bit cheaper than that rate, but I would certainly opt for a serviced apartment for that length of time. Windsor Suites, Rembrandt Apartments are in the same area and good value. You can really get them down a bit on price if you take a 12 month lease. It is worth shopping around a bit as you can get some good deals. The older serviced apartments, such as the ones mentioned, and President Park tend to be cheaper. The newer ones are more expensive even if they are smaller.

The Amanta on Ratchada may be of interest to you. It's not on the BTS but it is on the MRT so it makes transportation easy. It's right next to, or should I say, just behind the Espanade Mall. Take a look at the link here

Actually, the mrroomfinder website (which is where the link above is from) is a good website for those looking for condo's and serviced apartments for rent all over Thailand.

I think another member - CarlBKK from memory - said the Amanta was a great condo. I'll have a closer look in August.

Thanks guys :o
