Thai TV channel 11 just reported that the Bangkok governor has cancelled the Songkran festival in Bangkok.

Obviously he thinks it will be easier to stop people from throwing water over eachother than it is to do anything about the protests...

I reckon it will be songkran as usual at nana and soi cowboy... khao san rd is a bit closer to the main protest site... so maybe he thinks he'll have more authority there???

They can officially "cancel" songkran but that won't stop people from celebrating it per usual.

The Songkran stage at Paragon is deserted, a sad sight. As is the shrine outside MBK, although the centre itself is open for business.

The taxi ride from Phaya Thai to On Nut was punctuated with drenchings from people at the roadside, so business as usual for the 'ordinary folk'.
