This is exactly why I don't believe that anyone should be consulting with Thai tax accountants just yet, not even Big 4 accountants, not until the TRD has provided some clarity. Thai's are not known for their propensity to say, "I don't know", it's more likely that you'll get a guess or a fudged answer. Let's face it, TRD cannot leave these issues open, not if they really want people to file tax returns. All of this may mean a bit of a scramble in January or February but there doesn't seem to be a different sp;ution that's good. -

Just installed a pretty decent kitchen faucet from Mr DIY for 299฿. The previous one was Rasland brand (from Homepro) and was leaking quite badly after two or three years. The Mr DIY one is almost identical and less than half the price - they seem to have improved their products recently. -

Thai security forces suspect that an insurgent group, led by a known wanted militant Manso Puteh, is behind Saturday night's arson attack at a Wildlife Sanctuary in Narathiwat. The group, responsible for multiple violent acts, bombed offices and took four officials hostage. Around 20 armed insurgents are believed to have fled into a Malaysian border forest. This marks the first attack at the sanctuary in 30 years. Thailand will postpone an increase in the minimum wage to 400 baht per day scheduled for October 1st by about two weeks due to a lack of a quorum at meetings. A committee of employers, labour officials and the government, had also failed to reach a quorum at two previous meetings. The proposed minimum wage would only apply to businesses that employed more than 200 people. Officials say flood in Chiang Rai remains critical as some areas in the province have been hit by more flash floods and landslides, inundating several villages and blocking a main road connecting the province with Chiang Mai.
