Trying to find out what exactly is the first extension of OA visa. Obtained for both myself and wife multiple entry OA visas nearly 2 years ago from London, left the country and returned before expiry date of visa and got another 12 month extension, so my question is, was that re-entry technically our first renewal making the forthcoming one in May our second, or is this forthcoming one in May our first, my money is covered in any event 60 or 90 days but just needing some clarification on it. Thanks everyone.

Should add that for 90 days we will only have 15 days before expiry, keep reading that we need 21 days plus - is this correct?

For the first extension based on retirement it is 60 days. You can get the extension from 30 days before your current permisison to stay expires. You can even go on the last day of your permisison to stay, but do not recommend it in case you forget something.

If you want to be sure, wait till you have the money in the bank for 90 days. Don't forget a letter from your bank the day before you go to immigration or the same day is even better to confirm the money in the bank.

It will be your first extension of stay so you will not require the 90 days in account. And even if you did the extension can be done up until expiration of your stay. Just have the bank passbook and letter. Are you both going to use retirement extension of stay or just one and the other use dependent? If both want both will have to have the 800k in there name only. If using the dependent you will have to have marriage paperwork but only one bank account will be required.

Thanks everyone for the prompt and helpful replies, all clear to me now, and to answer Lopburi3, my wife will be my dependent, money originally put in a joint bank account but found out later it needed to be in my named account, hence only 15 days before expiry. What marriage paperwork do we  need as all I have is a very old marriage certificate of which I can make an excellent copy - will that be all that is needed (apart from all the other bits of course) as the renewal forms do not seem to have any reference on them for dependents so I assume that I fill in one for myself and one for my wife  with the relevant information and attach a copy of marriage certificate, am I missing anything out? Thanks once again.

Your wife fills in her own application form and gets her own exension. She just fills in to stay with you as reason for her extension. The marriage certificate is enough to proof your relationship.
