Ratchaburi Launches Walking Street

Featured Replies

Ratchaburi walking street

Hoping to attract more tourists, Ratchaburi last weekend launched a walking street right in the heart of the provincial town.

The street is next to the old Kuoygi market on Worade Road, the province's business hub. The walking street formally opened last Saturday. From now on every Friday through Sunday it will be sealed off to vehicles in the evening until late into the night.

A kilometre long, one end of the street connects the municipal pier on the Mae Klong River. Visitors can find choice food, desserts and handmade products.

Ratchaburi mayor Pichai Nanthachaiporn hopes the street will help draw more tourists to the province. He also has plans to introduce boat tours from the walking street to Amphawa floating market in Samut Songkhram.

For more information, call the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Central Region Office 2 at 032-471-0005 to 6.

The wife and some and some friends went to the new walking street market Sunday after seeing a add on TV. It was a big let down as in nothing special, just a regular thai market looks like its not catching on.

Opportunity to start a beer bar, someone, (it's not for me but I'll be a frequent visitor)

With the greatest respect, who the flick wants to visit Ratchaburi...???

the same could be said for Kanchanaburi, The same River runs through it. :)
