No visit to China, Hong Kong planned by Thaksin

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has no plans to visit mainland China or Hong Kong in the near future, said Thaksin's former legal adviser Noppadon Pattama. Noppadon said most of the former leader's business interests are in Europe, America, and Africa and he is not due to return to China or Hong Kong any time soon.

Noppadon's comments came as Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva hinted that an extradition agreement between Thailand and Hong Kong was close to being finished. Mr Abhisit met Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang during his one-day visit on Friday and said he hoped for a quick conclusion.

Thaksin is believed to visit Hong Kong regularly to meet his political sidekicks after he fled a two-year jail sentence for abusing his power in a land deal last year. In early March, he planned a speech at the Foreign Correspondents Club in Hong Kong, which prompted Thai authorities to step up attempts to seek his extradition.

There are rumours Col T had a sex change to make himself less recognisable while fleeing from one country to the next.

I thought we're not allowed to post rumors here.

Btw, the cheeks are too red and eyes shadows are too green :)

They why doesn't he pay Noppadope enough salary to buy a second suit and second tie?

oh, that's right... he thinks only of himself.

What if the man only likes that very suit and tie?

If it's true that Khun T does not pay enough, you now see that people still work for Khun T because they love Khun T.

Well, if Mr. T plans to live on this teetering island, perhaps he'll need all the government agents to provide services. What island would be complete without them?

Native Ameican Indian for illegal gambling; construction worker to build his massive palace; his own army soldier to ward off hostiles (yellow shirts); police chief to keep corruption in order and on task; and cycle rider in sexy leathers to provide intimacy and coddling in hard times.

I believe that Thaksin used to run with a Thai biker-gang in Isaan, the 'Cabinet-Members' or some such, would that not have been a more-appropriate costume, or is the point that he is/was more of a 'Cowboy', in the business sense ? :)

Police: Thaksin still in UAE

The police believe fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is still residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and are working with the Attorney-General's Office to extradite him.

Police Major-General Visanu Prasartthongosot, Commander of the Police Foreign Affairs Division, said on Thursday that there was no evidence that Thaksin had actually left the UAE.

However, it was possible he was traveling under

Interpol asked to help find Thaksin

Police have sought help from the Interpol unit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a search for fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who is believed to have been staying in that country.

The police move came after Pheu Thai Party MP Chalerm Yoobamrung admitted he had been to Dubai recently to visit Thaksin for three days.

Police Major-General Visanu Prasartthong-osot said the latest intelligence report showed Thaksin had not left the UAE, but police were checking if he had left the country under another name.

"We believe he is likely still in that country because it is not far from Thailand and he can use it as a base for his close aides to come and see him,'' he said.

Visanu said he had submitted a request to the Attorney-General's Foreign Affairs office to seek the extradition of Thaksin, even though Thailand does not have an extradition treaty with the UAE. "We can ask for cooperation from the UAE since we had earlier helped them arrest and dispatch suspects wanted by them."

After the court issued an arrest warrant for Thaksin, police stepped up pressure on him by asking Interpol police in 187 countries to help find and arrest him, he said.

Thai police had been dispatched to countries Thaksin was believed to visit frequently such as Hong Kong, Nicaragua, Montenegro, Cambodia, and the UAE.

Chalerm said he did not discuss politics or who would be the new Party Leader with Thaksin, but they talked about his well-being and his business.

Thaksin told him he had bought an island in Montenegro to develop a real estate business, hoping to make billions of baht in profit by selling expensive mansions to Asian millionaires, following the success of Hawaii.

"Thaksin is living a good life in Dubai because the country highly honours him and has given him top security. The reports that said Thaksin is not welcome there are wrong. Dubai approved a visa for me 24 hours after I applied. Thaksin took me out shopping in malls and many people came to ask for his autograph and his picture,'' he said.

Thaksin also won five goldmine concessions from a country in Africa, which had given him a special passport.

Responding to Chalerm's revelation of his visit to Thaksin in Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said he had not made any progress getting Thaksin back because he had more important work to do, such as combating drugs and violence in the South.

Thaksin 'carries 6 passports'

Thaksin Shinawatra is now carrying six passports issued by foreign countries, Puea Thai Party MP chief Chalerm Yubamrung says. Chalerm recently visited the former prime minister in Dubai, but was unable to give details of which countries had issued Thaksin with the passports.

Nicaragua reportedly issued Thaksin with a diplomatic passport when he was selected to promote the country's trade and investment. Thaksin may also have obtained a passport from Montenegro. Chalerm yesterday confirmed Thaksin planned to buy an island off the Montenegrin coast in the Adriatic Sea.

Chalerm said his trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) focused on business opportunities. No political issues were raised with Thaksin, he said. Thaksin often travelled from place to place in a helicopter he bought from the owner of the luxury Harrods store in London, Chalerm said.

Who cares where he is or what he is doing?

The guy lives alone in a desert with some grovelling sidekicks like Noppadon.

How Chalerm boasts about Thaksin's new business's in gold mines and real estate, it's rubbish, Propaganda for the stupids back here.

Thaksin wants people to think he is doing well when he is faring rather badly.

Thaksin won't leave the UAE, it's safest out of those African nations and Nicuragua, he has a certain standard of living to maintain, won't get 5 star luxury in Liberia.

Abhisit and Abhisit's people care. I think you care too. If not, you didn't post.

How do you know that he "lives alone in a desert with some grovelling sidekicks like Noppadon"?

How does it sound if I say "I can't earn 30 million Baht a years, so if anyone earning more than that, it's not true"?

"certain standard of living"?

He was not rich before. He carried those film tapes to let people rent in rural cinemas. He knows how the poor Thais live and wants to help them. Unlike someone living in comfort since young and never knows who the poor are.

I read SJ post carefully and I realize he does not state anywhere "these photos were taken at a specific date...

They may have been published at/around the time he posted.

SJ did show 3 pictures (apparently taken at different occasions) and in all 3 that lawyer wears the same suit.

What is your point? The suit? Is that damaging for his reputation???

in the thread 'red-Shirt Tactics' user koo posted an image of a big crowd in red shirts, a red rally, this photo got immediately scrutinized because it doesn't looked like a photo of the most recent rally, but a little bit dated (6 weeks).

I missed those posts and the subject is closed for further replies.

That was a photo to reply to h90's comment "Because they are just filming them now. Not ready yet". As the conversation ran, I thought I didn't need to quote the original post.

That photo was the red meeting in Khon Kaen on 8th March to ask people to judge whether it was made or real. I didn't say it was for the Saturday meeting.

He did have his other "man of the people" photo ops, like when he stayed with the poor moo ban villagers in Roi Et.... and even took a typical splash shower... but in a typical Thaksin screw-up... he followed that up by drying off with a designer-label, imported, Italian linen towel costing 30,000 baht!... :D purchased at The Emporium... :D

yeah... a real "man of the people"... :D

Thanks for providing the photo that goes with my photo caption. :)

Suthep sceptical on claim for Thaksin holding Cambodian passport

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban on Friday dismissed the claim that ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra was holding a Cambodian passport among his six to seven travel documents.

"I was told by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen himself that there was no issuing a passport for Thaksin," Suthep said.

He was reacting to remarks by Pheu Thai MP Chalerm Yoobamrung who said Thaksin showed him the Cambodian passport during their meeting last week in Dubai.

Thaksin no Cambodian passport

The six passports that former premier Thaksin Shinawatra is reportedly now carrying do not include a Cambodian passport, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said on Friday.

Leading Puea Thai MP Chalerm Yubamrung told reporters on Thursday that the governments of six countries had issued passports to Thaksin, and confirmed Nicaragua was one of them.

Mr Suthep said had spoken to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who had confirmed that Phnom Penh had not given Thaksin a passport.

The German Embassy on Friday denied local reports that former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who is said to have six foreign passports, has been issued a German passport.

"Thaksin Shinawatra does not hold a German passport," German Embassy spokesman Theodor Proffe said.

Some local newspapers published stories on Friday quoting Puea Thai MP chief Chalerm Yubamrung as saying that Thaksin is passports issued by six countries, including Germany and Cambodia. Earlier in the day, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said Thaksin did not have a Cambodian passport..

German Embassy denies fugitive Thai premier holds German passport

Bangkok - The German Embassy in Thailand Friday denied press reports that fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra holds a German passport, among others.

"Thaksin Shinawatra does not hold a German passport," German Embassy spokesman Theodor Proffe said.

Several Thai newspapers on Friday published stories quoting Chalerm Yubamgrung, a close political ally of Thaksin, as saying the coup-ousted premier held six foreign passports, including ones from Germany and Cambodia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen also denied having granted Thaksin a passport, Thai Deputy Prime Suthep Tuebsuban said.

Chalerm, a member of the pro-Thaksin Puea Thai Party, told local newspapers about Thaksin's many passports after visiting the former prime minister in Dubai.

It had previously been rumoured that Thaksin had been granted passports by Nicaragua and Montenegro.

Thaksin, a billionaire former telecommunications tycoon who was prime minister from 2001 to 2006, faces a two-year jail term in Thailand for abuse of power.

There is also an an arrest warrant out for Thaksin that accuses him of inciting violent protests last month that forced the government to cancel a regional summit on April 11-12 and led to two deaths in Bangkok.

The government revoked his Thai passport on April 13.

Thaksin has been living in self-imposed exile since August but continues to use his foreign bases to wage campaigns against the current government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejajjiva.

Thaksin, who was overthrown by a coup in September 2006, claimed to have been unjustly accused and victimized by factions jealous of his popularity among the poor, whom he courted and won over with populist policies during his two-term premiership.

His family is currently fighting Thai courts that have frozen 2 billion dollars of its bank deposits.

Former Thaksin legal adviser: UAE won't extradite ex-PM

BANGKOK, May 23 (TNA) - Noppadol Pattama [PPP Banned # 14], a former legal adviser to Thailand's fugitive, ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra [TRT Banned # 1] , on Saturday said it was untrue that the ex-premier had asked the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to broker sending him to fight court cases in Thailand.

Noppadol said the Abhisit government is tryin to extradite Thaksin, and sent Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot to convince the UAE to not shelter the fugitive.

But the UAE is a sovereign government, and Thailand must respect its decision. The UAE "realises that Thaksin was topped from power in a military coup which is against democratic principles," Noppadol said.

Ousted in a coup in September 2006, Thaksin lives in self-imposed exile, believed to be in the UAE.

The ex-PM Thaksin was convicted and sentenced to two years jail in absentia for manipulative involvement in a Ratchadapisek land deal conducted by his then wife.

The ex-premier is said to have spent most of his exile in Dubai after his visa was revoked by Britain.

Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had revoked both his diplomatic and ordinary passports in an attempt to capture him.

Puea Thai MP Chalerm Yoobamrung, a recent visitor to Dubai, said the fugitive ex-PM has six to eight foreign passports.

I realize Noppadope used to be Thailand's Foreign Minister before being banned from politics for committing electoral fraud, but I was unaware he's been put in charge of making Foreign Ministry press statements on governmental policy by the United Arab Emirates.
