Haven't been to Jomtien for about 5 years and remember it being fairly relaxed and a lot more respectable than its noisy neighbour. My folks are coming over soon and I'll be taking them to a few places, including Chiang Mai and Pai up north. They want to go to a beach resort before heading home and having done Krabi and Hua Hin on a previous visit and Kohs Samet and Chang being a bit out of the way I thought of Jomtien for a few nights.

Has anyone got any recommendations, particularly for hotels etc. and transport to the resort from Don Muang? Does the Thai Airways bus run to Jomtien or just as far as Pattaya? Spose taxis are an option but we'd need two and that would be a fair expense.

Ban Phe any good?

Cheers

the difference is a speed boat and 12 minutes!

there are limos who can easily hold up to 5 pax and luggage, and if two normal taxis are too expensif, Soi Bouakhao has similar prices to Khao San!!

Well thanks for the overwhelming response guys! I think I'll bypass this forum when posing a travel question in the future or has no-one been to <deleted> Jomtien?

it's ok , lived there for 8 months . There are of course some bars around but they are not that prevalent as in pattaya but only in the beginning of beach road. some nice open air bars , carefull for the moskito's though. bloody busy on sundays and holidays lately, the half of bangkok comes to the beach there, takes you one hour going from the beginning to the end of jontiem.

Whenever, I travel to Pattaya, I always spend some time in Jomtien, particularly to eat and buy supplies from Yorkies. And the beach opposite Yorkies is much less populated than the beach at the north end. However, I'm talking only of a couple of days; maybe a week or two could get a little boring.

I sometimes head down to Jom Tien when I have a long weekend. It's a lot quieter than Pattaya and the bar scene is a lot more unobtrusive there. I think a Limo from Don Muang would run about 1500 or 2000 baht, but, Limo's hired at the airport might be even more expensive! I usually take a bus.

How much for a limo to Pattaya/Jomtien from Don Muang? Will they comfortably seat 5?

around 1200 if you book in a travell shop , sometimes the driver wants 100 bath more to pick you up on the other side of sukhumvit. that's for a normal saloon car.
