when asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors.

What is greater than God,

More evil than the devil,

The poor have it,

The rich need it,

And if you eat it, you'll die?

(I'll give the answer after enough tries have been posted if nobody has got it yet)

Try this one - an oldie but goodie:

What has 4 legs on the morning,

2 legs in the afternoon,

and 3 legs in the evening?

Someone is sure to know but I'll post the answer and an explanation if nothing is forthcoming.

A man - crawls as a baby, then walks on 2 feet, then uses a cane (3 legs) as an old man.

Well done J_A_T_F and VinylMan.

Now try this one:

From my starting point I walk 100m due north.

I turn due east and walk a further 100m.

Finally, I turn due south and again walk 100m.

I now find that I am back at my starting point.

Where am I standing?

And another - easy if you get the first one:

A man builds a house with all four walls facing south.

A bear walks past the house.

What colour is the bear?

You are at the south pole and the bear is white.

Absolutely correct. The house is, of course, at the north pole so we assume that the bear is of the polar variety.

Need to find some harder riddles I think. Anyone out there with any good ones?
