I was looking at the Firefly website and couldn't find any flights to Penang from Samui. I know they were having problems with the plane back in Feb-March. Have they just stopped it completely now?

Unfortunately yes, only flight tu Subang, more expensive and not the same airport used by Air Asia. From KL Air Asia fly to Krabi, Pucket and BKK, no SAmui, so the London flight is getting too complicated to use.

Not good for Samui, even if BKK Air has cutted prices they only flight directly to Singapore and HKK. :)

good the fire fly office in samui ripped me off 15 k. wanted to go to the papers about that 1 but i couldn't be bothered.

cut a long story short. i could not fly due to bad policing. i had 2 passports becuase my old one was full. the immergration officer would not let me leave the airport. hence i missed myh flight.

\

wen to immergration office in nathong. asked them why i had to move 1 stamp from one passport into my new passport. they told me i did not and that i just had to take both my passports which i did.

then the officer gave me their number and said ring if i have another problem.

so i told fire fly. not only would they not give me a refund but they wouldn;t even change my flight. they told me that they did not have the pwoer to do that.

yet when i flew back to samui aftewr flying samui bbk bbk penang. i used my rtn ticket back to samui and they changed the date for 400 baht.

i hate the samui branch and they even thretened me telling me that it would be dangerous for me if i go to the newspapers

makes me laugh cause all the time when he was selling me the ticket he kept bosting that he was a profffesional.

i booked my flight with firefly about a month before travel date on 18 march, i think, return to penang. i revieved an email about 5 days before with an attachment of my 'new flight itinerary'. because i had already booked and paid for it when they discontined the samui penang route they chose not to cancel my flight but to send me via subang. it worked out ok though, better than taking the mini buses!

paid 4000 baht and got to see subang, an old old airport of kl used only by firefly!

FIREFLY has big monetary problems and they were begging for cash-injections from the government recently, even though they are part of the MALAYSIAN AIRLINES GROUP.

they wanted PENANG to be their main hub, but that turned out to be not profitable so they suspended many routes from Penang, particularly those to the East-Coast. from Penang, they now fly to West-coast destinations only, such as Subang, JohorBahru. International destinations are Banda Aceh, Medan and Phuket. I assume they will add Singapore soon, as it's now "open-skies" between SG and Malaysia.

Now their hub is Subang, the old airport in KL, much closer to town, but a hassle to get there. Unlike the LCC-terminal at KLIA, Subang does not have an inexpensive bus-shuttle going to downtown (at least none that I knew of), so you will need to take the regular public RAPID-Busses (cheap at 2 RM, but not equipped for travellers with luggage), or fall prey to the nasty Taxi-scum of KL, which is easily the worst all over Asia.

Subang is as well used by BERJAYA AIR, though their planes are even older than the Subang airport itself :)

Last March I paid for the taxi inside the airport and it wasn't expensive at all.
